Northeast Utilities Moving Downtown August 14th Weekend

Its finally happening. A corporation moving jobs from the suburbs to the city, an occasion that is usually the other way around (can anyone say WFSB, ING, MetLife). Anyway, I cant wait for Northeast Utilities to move their headquarters from Berlin to 56 Prospect Street in downtown Hartford.

About 180 managers and support staff will be calling the capital city their new work place. They will be working out of a former Phoenix Companies building that is 93,000 square feet. NU paid $8.7 million for the property last December.

These are high paying corporate jobs that are coming to the city, something that does not happen often. I cannot express how important this is.

This is an excellent move considering NU is New England's largest utility system and it only makes sense that their headquarters be in the capital city of the state they proudly operate out of. Not to mention they will be closer to the political core of the state on both the state and federal government levels.
